“A Veteran is any person who is serving or who has honourably served in the Canadian Armed Forces, the Commonwealth or its wartime allies, or as a Regular Member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or as a Peace Officer in a Special Duty Area or on a Special Duty Operation, or who has served in the Merchant Navy or Ferry Command during wartime.”
HOW WE HELP

Since our first get-together, we have already helped a number of Veterans in need. We work in concert with Vets Canada, the Legion, 31CBG Veterans' Wellbeing Network, and others to determine need and how best to be of assistance.

Once a Veteran's needs are corroborated, we get boots on the ground when appropriate, or are in the background working with those on site that are directly supporting the Vet. Everything is done in the strictest confidence so that a Veteran's privacy is protected.

To date, we have helped individuals with purchasing groceries to tie them over until Veterans Affairs cheques arrive, to helping those who are stranded, or have fallen on unexpected hard times. Providing a "softer landing" is one of our goals.

Something we are very good at is rapid response. As some people know, there are gaps in service and/or time to respond to need. We are there to fill in the gaps, in the best way that we can.

We subscribe to the Royal Canadian Legion's Definition of a Veteran
